The Stenographer 490 ½ is a pencil produced in the 1950s.
It's a 60-70-year-old vintage pencil.
Dixon was founded in 1827 by Joseph Dixon.
In the early days, crucibles (containers used to melt metal) were sold mainly made of graphite.
So you can see the crucible logo on Dixon's early pencils.
In 1873, Dixon was founded in Ticondero Street, New York City.

In 2005, it was merged with Fila, Italy.
